Description

Performs advanced professional work in planning, coordinating, and implementing the City’s special events and recreation programs, including summer camp. Requires frequent evening, weekend, and holiday work.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and implement special events, festivals, seasonal celebrations, and community programs.
  • Plan, organize, and oversee seasonal programs including summer camp, holiday camps, and school break programs.
  • Develop event and camp timelines, logistics plans, staffing schedules, and activity programming.
  • Secure permits, contracts, vendors, entertainers, and equipment rentals in accordance with City policies.
  • Coordinate event and camp setup, operations, and breakdown.
  • Monitor program registration, participation levels, and customer satisfaction.
  • Prepare and monitor assigned event and program budgets.
  • Track expenditures and revenues and ensure proper financial documentation.
  • Collaborate on marketing strategies including social media, flyers, email campaigns, and website content.
  • Build partnerships with community organizations, schools, businesses, and vendors.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise part-time staff and volunteers.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures and risk management policies.
  • Provide on-site operational leadership during events and programs.
  • Prepare post-event and seasonal program evaluations and reports.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
  • Experience supervising staff or volunteers preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by program and event schedules.

This is a full-time position with benefits. It is covered under the City of Miami Springs General Employees’ Pension Plan, which requires a mandatory pre-tax employee contribution. The contribution rate fluctuates annually and is 5.87% for Fiscal Year 2025–26. Salary placement will be based on experience, qualifications, internal equity, and prior compensation.
