Position Overview:

V&E Hospitality Group is seeking talented and passionate individuals to join our culinary team as Josper Cook. The Josper Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking menu items using a Josper charcoal oven, ensuring exceptional flavor, presentation, and consistency. This role requires strong knowledge of live-fire cooking, temperature control, and food safety while working efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain the Josper charcoal oven safely and efficiently
  • Prepare, season, and cook meats, seafood, and vegetables according to recipe and quality standards
  • Monitor oven temperatures, charcoal levels, and cooking times to ensure consistency
  • Set up and break down the Josper station before and after service
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workstation at all times
  • Follow food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations
  • Coordinate with kitchen team to ensure timely service during peak hours
  • Inspect food quality and presentation before service
  • Assist with inventory, stocking, and proper storage of products

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a Line Cook or in a similar culinary role is preferred.
  • Knowledge of culinary techniques, including knife skills, cooking methods, and food preparation.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining attention to detail and quality.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Positive attitude and a passion for culinary arts.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Culinary school or related certification is a plus.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with a Josper oven, charcoal grill, or live-fire cooking preferred
  • Strong understanding of cooking temperatures, meat doneness, and fire management
  • Ability to work in a high-heat, fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Strong attention to detail and consistency
