JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Department Director and/or Manager this hands-on position will be responsible for assisting across multiple City departments. This is a seasonal position (up to 40 hours per week).
The primary goal of this Information Technology internship is to assist with various IT Helpdesk tasks, City Hall Equipment, and employee re-locations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Provide IT phone support for internal customers.
- Image Laptops, Desktops, and Tablets.
- Organize IT equipment in our storage area.
- Facilitate the shipping and receiving of IT equipment.
- Learn to respond to requests for technical assistance via phone, ticket or email.
- Installation and support of computers, laptops, tablets, and smart devices.
- Installation and support of desk phones and cellular phones.
- Installation and support of MS Office and other applications.
- Installation and support of printers, scanners, fax and other business equipment.
- Maintaining hardware and software inventory.
- Professional documentation of all issues in Help Desk System.
- Work with team members to efficiently solve problems.
- Make recommendations to leadership for streamlining systems and processes.
- Research and implement solutions for enhanced efficiency.
- Provide general administration assistance and support.
- Participation in various meetings.
- Supporting event coordination.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
An Undergraduate or Graduate Level student currently enrolled in a college or university with a major related to the role is preferred; Attention to detail, the ability to multi-task and excellent oral and written communications skills are all essential to this position. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Teams.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of the operation of general office equipment including calculator, computer keyboard, computer word processing or other programs, telephone, telephone console, or copy machine as required.
- Computer Hardware and Software experience.
- Technical and analytical aptitude.
- Knowledge of basic mathematical and accounting procedures.
- Skill in operating a computer.
- Skill in communicating both orally and in written form.
- Skill in researching complex issues and developing recommended actions.
- Ability to develop, implement and evaluate new and revised procedures, methods and standards.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise considerable skill in information handling, privacy of records and judgment.
- Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This work requires traveling to various job sites, speaking and making presentations to internal stakeholders.
