Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Teacher

CECO is seeking a highly motivated, skilled, and dynamic Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Teacher. This role is responsible for delivering developmentally appropriate educational programming that promotes students’ physical, cognitive, and socio-emotional growth through differentiated instruction and individualized support.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field
- Florida Professional Teaching Certificate (PreK–3rd) preferred
- Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Endorsement
- American Sign Language (ASL) proficiency is preferred
- Experience teaching in small groups (6–7 students) and/or one-on-one settings
- Strong classroom management skills, behavior management, and assessment
- Ability to adapt instruction for students at varying developmental levels
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated skills in collaboration, human relations, and conflict resolution
Responsibilities
- Provide small group and individualized instruction tailored to each student’s needs
- Collaborate as an active member of a multidisciplinary team to plan and implement differentiated programs based on students’ developmental levels
- Collect and analyze data to monitor student progress and inform instructional decisions
- Maintain accurate attendance and progress reports
- Integrate the principles of Conductive Education into daily instruction, including necessary modifications to meet all students’ needs
- Work closely with professional staff to establish student goals across physical, cognitive, and social domains; monitor progress and adjust plans as needed
- Implement proactive behavior management strategies, including positive redirection, data tracking, functional behavior assessments, and behavior plan development
- Participate in team meetings, professional development, and school-wide activities
- Provide basic caregiving support using universal health and safety precautions
Physical Requirements
- Physical and mental stamina, including the ability to lift 50 lbs. or more repetitively
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, sit, carry, push, and pull equipment or assist students as needed
- Ability to ambulate independently without the use of assistive devices
- Ability to perceive and respond to environmental sounds
Minimum Experience advertisement
- Preferred 1–3 years of teaching experience working with children with diverse disabilities and behavioral needs
