Job Description

The First Notice of Loss (FNOL) Associate serves as the initial point of contact in the claims call center for customers reporting an automobile or home claim. This role is responsible for accurately capturing loss details, providing general information about the claims process, and directing callers to the appropriate next steps. FNOL Associates take first notice of claims over the phone to ensure claim information is complete, timely, and documented in accordance with quality and compliance standards while delivering a positive customer experience during stressful situations.

National General Insurance, an Allstate Company, is hiring customer-focused professionals to join our First Notice of Loss team. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for customers reporting an auto claim, helping them begin the process with confidence and care.

Training Schedule:

  • Duration: 6 weeks of paid training
  • Hours: Monday–Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. EST

Permanent Schedule (after training):

  • Hours: 2:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. EST
  • Weekend Rotation: Each shift will include either Saturday or Sunday each week, with one weekday off
  • Overnight Options: There are two overnight shifts available; details will be shared during the interview process

Start Date: Monday, March 16, 2026

Key Responsibilities

  • Contacts or receives contact from customer or other claim related third parties to obtain and/or provide necessary file information to comply with quality and process standards
  • Follows established guidelines specific to each claim report or inquiry
  • Takes first notice of loss claims, explains the basic claim process, and provides information of a general nature to customers
  • Receives, screens, and routes incoming telephone calls and other electronic correspondence
  • Handles claim files (locates/requests files, files paperwork, reconstructs missing files, moves misfiled documents, sends to other offices, etc.)
  • Retrieves, prints, and faxes, or mails supporting documentation to vendors or others as directed
  • Performs clerical duties, including data entry, filing paper documents, email, calendar management, and word processing

Compensation

Base compensation offered for this role is $18.00 hourly and is based on experience and qualifications.
Total compensation for this role is comprised of several factors, including the base compensation outlined above, plus incentive pay (i.e. commission, bonus, etc.) as applicable for the role.
