Compensation: $47,000 - $50,700 Base Salary; Up to $5,000 Supplemental Pay*

Job Description

The ESOL Teacher provides targeted language instruction and academic support to multilingual learners (MLLs) to ensure they can access grade-level curriculum and develop English language proficiency.

 

Reporting to the principal or campus administrator, the ESOL Teacher supports English Language Learners (ELLs) through differentiated instruction, language development strategies, and instructional accommodations aligned with students’ English proficiency levels.

 

The ESOL Teacher collaborates with general education teachers to ensure effective instructional scaffolds are implemented in the classroom while supporting student progress toward English language proficiency as measured by WIDA/ACCESS and other assessment tools.

 

This role requires a culturally responsive educator who understands language acquisition, differentiated instruction, and strategies to support multilingual learners academically and socially.

Key Activities

Instruction

  • Provide targeted language instruction through small group and individualized support
  • Differentiate instruction based on students’ Englishproficiencylevels
  • Use formative and summative assessment data tomonitorstudent learning and language progress
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to support effective ESOL accommodations and instructional strategies

ESOL Services & Compliance

  • ImplementrequiredESOL accommodations and language supports
  • Maintainaccuratedocumentation related to student language services
  • Support monitoring of student language progress using WIDA/ACCESS data and other assessments

Classroom Culture

  • Establish andmaintainconsistent classroom routines
  • Implement schoolwide behavior systems with fidelity 
  • Ensure a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment

Student & Family Support

  • Support multilingual learners through academic and language development interventions
  • Maintain communication with familiesregardingstudent progress and language development
  • Support parent conferences and meetings when appropriate
  • Collaborate with school staff to ensure students receiveappropriate languagesupport services

Professional Responsibilities

  • Attend and activelyparticipatein meetings, PD, coaching sessions, andESOLtrainings
  • Submit lesson plans, data reports, and compliance documentation on time
  • Uphold all school policies, procedures, and professional expectations
  • Use beginning- and end-of-year extended weeks to strengthenESOLsystems

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution 
  • Valid or eligible Florida teaching certification
  • ESOLCertification
