Job Summary

 

We’re seeking a hands-on Manager, Data Science to join our growing team and drive the development of AI capabilities that will revolutionize how home health organizations operate. This is an exciting opportunity to be both a technical contributor and an emerging leader, working at the intersection of advanced AI and healthcare innovation.

 

In this role, you’ll lead the development of AI solutions that reduce repetitive paperwork for healthcare back office workers, accelerate and automate the home health intake process, and enable early intervention to improve patient outcomes. You’ll work closely with ML engineers and cross-functional teams to bring these capabilities from concept to production.

 

This position offers a unique opportunity to grow into a leadership role while remaining deeply technical. You’ll manage a small but growing team of data scientists, with responsibility for hiring and developing talent as we scale our AI capabilities.

 

Job Duties

 

Technical Leadership (Primary Focus)

 

  • Design, develop, and deploy agentic AI systems using large language models (LLMs) to automate healthcare workflows
  • Build and optimize OCR and document processing pipelines to extract and structure information from healthcare documents
  • Design, implement, and execute the processes of data labeling, hypothesis creation & testing, experiment design and execution, accuracy measurement.
  • Develop machine learning models that enable early intervention and improve patient outcomes
  • Collaborate closely with ML engineers to transition models from development to production
  • Architect scalable data science solutions using Python, Azure, and AWS
  • Stay current with emerging AI technologies and identify opportunities to apply them to home health challenges

 

People Management & Leadership

 

  • Lead and mentor data scientists, fostering their technical growth and career development
  • Participate in hiring processes to build and scale the data science team
  • Develop your leadership skills with support from the VP of Data Science
  • Establish best practices for code quality, model development, and documentation
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration across the team

 

Strategy & Collaboration

 

  • Partner with product, clinical and engineering teams to define AI product roadmap
  • Communicate technical concepts and results to non-technical stakeholders
  • Contribute to the overall data science strategy and vision
  • All other job-related duties as assigned

 

Minimum Requirements

 

  • Master’s degree in Data Science, Machine Learning/AI, Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field
  • 6+ years of progressive experience in data science or advanced analytics in a software-based organization.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and experience with modern ML/AI frameworks
  • Hands-on experience with large language models (LLMs) and agentic AI systems
  • Experience with OCR technologies and document processing workflows
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, specifically Azure and/or AWS
  • Knowledge in experimental design, and statistical hypothesis testing
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to translate business problems into technical solutions
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for mentoring others
  • Passion for using AI to solve real-world healthcare challenges

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • 2+ years of hands-on management or team leadership experience, with direct responsibility for mentoring, performance management, and delivery
  • Experience in healthcare, particularly with home health or related healthcare operations
  • Knowledge of healthcare data standards, privacy regulations (HIPAA), and compliance requirements
  • Previous experience deploying production ML systems
  • Familiarity with MLOps practices and tools
  • Experience with natural language processing (NLP) for clinical or healthcare text
  • Publications or contributions to the ML/AI community

 

Job Location

 

Mosai has office locations in Jacksonville, FL, and Nashville, TN, respectively. For this role, we are seeking candidates who are interested in a hybrid work arrangement at either location and/or we are open to fully-remote candidates.
