As an Information Technology Intern, you'll gain hands-on experience in real client and production settings, combining office work with on-site field exposure. You'll develop key troubleshooting and customer service skills while building technical expertise. This program equips rising juniors and seniors with the skills and experience to feel successful in demanding IT environments.


This internship offers rotations across SE’s engineering teams, including security, networking, infrastructure, and end-user support. You'll benefit from direct mentorship by experienced IT professionals, participate in professional networking events, and experience supporting clients in many different industries. Our approach keeps projects engaging, fast-paced, and aligned with your academic and career ambitions. 

 

Program Logistics:

  • 13-week summer program: Monday, May 18 – Friday, August 14, 2026
  • Full-time, paid position: 40 hours/week, Monday–Friday
  • Application deadline: Monday, February 3, 2026 


Requirements

Core Focus Areas: 

  • Network and application security 
  • Backup and disaster recovery 
  • Firewall administration and networking 
  • Virtualization and cloud support 
  • Help Desk services 

Desired Skills: 

  • Progress toward a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Cybersecurity 
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities 
  • Familiarity with networking fundamentals, Windows servers, and cloud platforms (O365, Azure, VMware) 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, collaboration, and attention to detail 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Systems Engineering has three office locations: Our Portland, Maine office is located in the heart of the Old Port in downtown Portland positioned centrally to the waterfront, trails, parks, and restaurants. Our Pineland Farms Office is located at Durham Hall on the Pineland Farms Campus, New Gloucester, Maine. Our New Hampshire office is located in the vibrant city of Nashua.

 

Due to the nature of our business and the requirements of ITAR regulations, this role may require access to controlled information and technology. Candidates must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents and be willing to undergo a thorough background check as part of the employment process.
