Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Six years of experience in fund accounting, government financial reporting, and audit preparation.
- Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
- Experience and proficiency with financial management systems and accounting software.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Experience effectively leading the work of others by providing guidance and motivation while establishing goals and expectations of accountability.
- Accounting or finance experience in a Florida public school district.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Strong knowledge of governmental accounting principles, including GAAP and GASB standards.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to think critically and creatively, have a high standard of integrity, and be motivated to incorporate best practices into the organizational structure.

Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and maintenance of accounting procedures and internal control systems.
- Inspect and analyze operations regularly within the area of assignment to take action to continuously improve procedures, services, and support to schools and work locations.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist in the coordination and completion of the district’s annual audit; work directly with external auditors to provide
- requested information and resolve audit findings.
- Monitor and reconcile balance sheet accounts and ensure timely resolution of discrepancies.
- Ensure the accurate and timely posting of all financial transactions and close of accounting periods.
- Monitor and manage the District’s cash flows to ensure adequate funds for operations.
- Manage funding requirements through investments, Certificate of Participation (COPS), and bond issuances.
- Ensure proper accounting and allocation of all District’s fixed assets and property records.
- Lead and/or attend various meetings to communicate information; advise, recommend, and make presentations developed to present proposals/plans/documentation.
- Provide support and training to district departments and school sites on accounting policies, procedures, and systems.
- Participate in financial system upgrades, enhancements, and data integrity reviews.
